Shayla’s jaw dropped when Amber appeared in Jamaica—like a storm she never saw coming. 😱🌪️
Setting:
The sun blazes over the white sand beaches of Negril, Jamaica. Shayla lounges in a beach chair, sunglasses on, cocktail in hand, trying to forget everything—especially the mess back home. The sea breeze is calming. She closes her eyes. Then—
footsteps crunching in the sand.
Amber: (arms folded, staring)
“Well, well... Jamaica looks good on you, Shayla.”
Shayla: (eyes flying open, stunned)
“Amber?! What the hell—how did you even—?”
Amber: (cutting her off)
“Relax. I’m not here to ruin your vacation. I just needed some answers... and apparently, so do you.”
Shayla: (sits up straight, heart pounding)
“You followed me here? Are you serious right now? This is my escape, Amber!”
Amber: (coldly)
“Oh, I’m dead serious. I booked my ticket the moment I saw your little post: ‘Healing in paradise 🌴✨’. Healing from what, exactly?”
Shayla: (voice trembling)
“That’s none of your business.”
Amber: (stepping closer)
“Not my business? Shayla, you disappeared without a word. You ghosted everyone. Me, Anthony… even Arby’s been trying to figure out what happened.”
Shayla:
“Don’t bring up Arby. He’s the reason I needed to get away in the first place.”
Amber: (raising an eyebrow)
“Oh really? You’re blaming him now? You told me it was your decision to keep the truth from him.”
Shayla: (stands up, her voice sharper now)
“Because I was protecting myself! I was protecting my baby! You think it was easy lying to Arby, watching him think he was the father when he wasn’t?”
Amber: (voice rising)
“You could’ve told me! I’m your best friend, Shayla! Or at least I thought I was.”
Shayla: (quietly)
“You wouldn’t have understood.”
Amber: (hurt)
“I understand more than you think.”
A moment of heavy silence hangs between them. The waves crash in the background. Shayla looks away, wiping a tear.
Shayla:
“I came here to forget. To breathe. I couldn’t take everyone’s judgment, the whispers, the looks. Especially not after Anthony…”
Amber: (softens slightly)
“What about Anthony?”
Shayla: (voice breaking)
“I told him the truth before I left. About the baby. About everything. And he looked at me like I was a stranger. Like he never knew me.”
Amber:
“Because he didn’t know the real you. You’ve been hiding behind a smile for months, Shayla.”
Shayla: (angrily)
“You think I wanted to? I didn’t ask for this drama. I didn’t ask to fall for someone who wasn’t ready to step up. I didn’t ask to get caught between lies and silence!”
Amber:
“You made that choice, though. You chose silence. And now you’re here acting like you’re the victim.”
Shayla: (snaps)
“I am the victim, Amber! I had to deal with everything on my own while you were busy playing peacemaker back home.”
Amber: (defensive)
“That’s not fair. I was trying to hold things together because you wouldn’t. Everyone kept asking me questions—where’s Shayla? What’s going on with the baby? I was drowning in your secrets!”
Shayla: (turns away)
“I didn’t ask you to defend me.”
Amber: (voice cracking)
“No, but I did anyway. Because I love you. Because you’re my sister. And sisters don’t disappear without saying goodbye.”
A pause. Shayla’s shoulders slump. The tough act fades. She finally turns to face Amber, her eyes red.
Shayla:
“I’m sorry.”
Amber:
“Then let me help you, Shay. Let’s fix this together.”
Shayla:
“I don’t even know where to start. I feel like everything’s crumbling. I don’t trust myself anymore.”
Amber: (smiling sadly)
“Then lean on me until you can. You don’t have to do this alone.”
Shayla: (after a pause)
“It still hurts, you know? The way Anthony looked at me. I never thought… I never thought the truth would break everything.”
Amber:
“Sometimes truth destroys before it heals. But at least now, you’re free of the lies.”
Shayla: (nodding slowly)
“You’re right. Maybe that’s why I needed to see you here. Maybe this was the storm I had to face.”
Amber: (teasing, trying to lighten the mood)
“Well, next time you’re running from drama, don’t post your location. I tracked you faster than the FBI.”
Shayla: (laughs through tears)
“I can’t believe you really showed up in Jamaica.”
Amber: (grins)
“Girl, you think I was gonna let you sulk in paradise all alone? Not a chance.”
Shayla: (sincerely)
“Thank you… for coming.”
Amber:
“Always. Now, can we go get a drink? You look like you need something stronger than coconut water.”
Shayla: (smirking)
“Only if you promise not to bring up Arby for the rest of the day.”
Amber: (laughs)
“Deal. But tomorrow? All bets are off.”
As the sun sets over the Caribbean, two broken hearts begin to mend—understanding that sometimes, the only way out of the storm... is together.
